prince

Prince came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is about 9 months old. He is very friendly and playful. Gets along with kids and dogs. Prince is potty trained and loves to roll on his bed with his lambchop toy.

snowy

Snowy came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on 10-6-21. She is about a year old and super sweet. Stay tuned for more on Snowy!

jerry

Jerry came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center in September 2021. He is about 2 years old and thought to be a Border Collie/Heeler mix. He is a little shy at first but warms up quick. He is good with dogs and doing well with his training. Stay tuned for more on Jerry!

Shelby

Shelby came to us July 14, 2021 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is about 2 years old. This shepherd/husky mix is super smart. She loves dogs and is learning to love people. Stay tuned for more on Shelby.

ryder

Ryder was the 3rd dog we rescued on Give Big Kern. He came to us from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. This 2 year old mutt gave us quite the scare the week he got here but after a few days in the ER he is happy and healthy and enjoying his time at the Ranch. Ryder loves people, kids and dogs.

marsha

Marsha came to us April 24, 2021 from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is one of the best dogs we have ever had at Shadow Ranch. She is great with adults, kids and dogs. She listens very well and is doing great with learning the rules. Her favorite pastime is rolling in the dirt.

norman

Norman came to us on March 31 from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. This old bully man just makes you smile. He does have some mobility issues and an enlarged prostate but doesn't let that stop him from wagging his little pibble behind. He loves people and gets along with pups but could care less if any are around. Stay tuned for updates on Norman.

roger the first

Update Sept 2021: Roger's adopters were no longer able to give him the care that he needed. He is back with his original foster family and now once again searching for his forever family. Roger is now just over a year old and about 6 lbs. And as you can see he loves to help with laundry.

Roger came to us on September 28, 2020 from Kern County Animal Services at just 7 weeks old and 1 pound. He is spunky, feisty and cute as a button.

Luke

Luke also came to us on Give Big Kern day. Named in honor of "May the 4th be with you". This Maltese senior is slowly coming out of his shell. He is doing great with potty training and learning how to be a dog.

nugget mcgravy

Nugget came to us from KCAS in Aug 2020 underweight and covered in fleas. He has spent the last year in his foster home learning what the love from a family is all about. He lives with adults, children, cats, dogs and livestock.  He doesn't know how big he is so don't be surprised when he climbs into your lap. He loves to drool, nap and is the softest weighted blanket you ever did meet.  He is looking for a family that is home the vast majority of the time so that he can soak up as much love as he can.  He is potty trained, crate trained and binge watching TV trained.

Molly

Molly came to us July 15, 2021 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She has been overbred and neglected for quite some time but is still the sweetest lady ever. This 6 year old Great Dane get along with just about everyone and everything.

roland

Roland is a 4 year old Bichon Frise mix who came to us Aug 13, 2021 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is as cute as can be. Loves dogs, kids and playing in the mud.

paisley

Paisley came to us on April 7th from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. Her family moved and left her behind in the yard to fend for herself. This 2 year old blue nose girl is always happy. She loves people, dogs and treats. Stay tuned for more on Paisley!

Willow

Willow was one of this year's Give Big Kern dogs. We welcomed her on May 4th from Kern County Animal Services. This senior gal was named after our feline friend Buttonwillow Medina. She is always happy to see anyone and does great with kids and dogs.

Dolores

Dolores came to us from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on May 20th, 2021. She was believed to be 5 years old. Upon her vet visit for her spay we discovered that she is more like 8 years and was beginning to have Pyometra. This is why spay is so important for the health of your pets. Dolores is very sweet and decompressing from being bred multiple times.

rico

Rico came to us on April 7th from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is pretty shy but you can tell he wants to learn to trust and love. At 2 years old and 13 lbs this soft and silky baby will soon be looking for a family to grow with.

abby

Abby came to us on April 7th from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She had been found stray completed matted and full of foxtails. She is very sweet and aims to please. She has been shaved down but her coat is growing in very nicely and her wounds are dealing. She is having a dental soon due to the poor condition of her teeth. Abby is about 10 years old and 14 lbs. She is looking for a place to relax and snuggle for the rest of her years.

Bentley

Bentley came to us on Mar 18 from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. This spunky 6 year old Frenchie mix is quite the character. His many facial expressions keep you entertained all day long. He loves people but tends to love dogs a little too much… think of him as the annoying little brother…lol. He is looking for a family of his own to just lay around and grow old with.

zoe

Zoe is a 9 year old Boston Terrier mix who came to us on March 16th from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. Looks like she was in a little scuffle prior to arrival so she is missing a little chunk of her ear. She had a pretty large mass on the back of her neck. We have since had it removed. The vet does believe that it was a cancerous tumor but that he got it all and there was no signs that it had spread. Zoe loves just about everyone and everything she comes into contact with. She is currently looking for a family to spend many happy times with.

fergus

Fergus came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center in January 2021. This senior chihuahua was in pretty rough shape from neglect. He couldn't walk and was very malnourished. He went straight into senior medical foster. Since visiting the vet and receiving medication and proper nutrition her has been perking up daily. He has regained some limited mobility and definitely loves to eat and snuggle. He will live out his life with his forever foster mama.

Willis

Willis came to us on March 9 from Kern County Animal Services. He was matted and under socialized. It didn't take him long to settle in and reveal what an amazing pup he is.

lobo

Lobo is a 4 year old White Shepherd who came to us from Kern County Animal Services on October 10th. He was a dirty, skinny, scared mess but is coming around in positive ways daily. Lobo will be ready for adoption in December.

maya

update on Maya: Maya was not feeling well yesterday so we took her to the ER. Unfortunately it was discovered that she had end stage liver cancer. We helped her peacefully cross over. We love you Maya.

Maya was found on the shore of Lake Isabella and registered with Kern County Animal Services. She has been in our care since March 30. This senior gal is overweight, has severe mobility issues and was full of burrs. She is the sweetest old gal and loves to smile and sunbathe. Stay tuned for updates on Maya.

macy

Macy came to us 10-29-2020 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Center. She is the 100th dog we have rescued since the rescue began. At 3 years old this sweet girl has been a mom way too many times but she is safe now and will never again be used for breeding. She is a lovebug for sure. She gets along with most dogs but her mama instinct kicks in and she will correct them if they are too high energy.

butterscotch

Butterscotch came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center in February 2021. This 5 month old terrier mix is a pleasure to have around. He loves humans and dogs and snuggles.

freedom

Freedom is a 4 year old Dutch Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix who came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on July 3rd to complete her stray hold and make room for 4th of July strays at the shelter. After no owner came forward she became part of the SOS family on July 9th. Freedom is a very smart girl who in a few short days is already responding very well to her training. She is great with dogs of all sizes but tends to take on the role of the "Fun Police" if the energy gets too high. She is currently recovering from kennel cough and awaiting spay surgery. After that she will be looking for her forever home in a structured, somewhat calm home. Would be a great dog for an active veteran/person who is looking for a loyal companion.

ginger

Ginger is a shy 2 year old beauty queen who came to us on October 1st from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is shy at first but just wants to love and be loved. She will be ready for adoption in mid November

fawn

Fawn came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on December 1st. She is so sweet. This young, playful girl has so much love to give. Stay tuned for updates on Fawn.

mandy

Mandy came to us on 10-29-20 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is about a year old and the friendliest girl you ever did meet. She gets along with people and dogs and is super smart.

Billy

Billy came to us on December 17th from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. Neglected, dirty and scared is how he started. Now is he healthy, clean and full of life. Stay tuned for updates on Billy!

hunter

Hunter is a less than one year old yellow lab who came to us on July 24, 2020 from Kern County Animal Services. He was urinating blood and not doing well in the shelter environment. He is currently happy and enjoying his time at Shadow Ranch. He is scheduled to be neutered on 8/20. Hunter loves dogs, people and yummy treats.

holly

Holly came to us in December at 15 years old and horrible shape. She immediately went into a specialty foster home as well as the vet. Her condition was stable but terminal. Holly was loved and spoiled until she passed away peacefully on January 8th.

Tate

Tate is a 10 month old Husky/Pit Bull Mix. He's fuzzy like a teddy bear and has ears for days. He came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on June 19, 2020. He gets along great with people and dogs. Tate would like a playful, tolerant furry sibling to play with. The "Fun Police" dogs are not a fan of him because he has so much playful energy.

toby

Toby is a 4 year old poodle mix who came to us from Kern County Animal Services. He was a mess when we got him… dirty, ticks, matted and a severe infection. He is turning into the greatest little buddy ever. Loves people and dogs. Playful and easy going. He is going to make a great addition to any family.

poppy

UPDATE on Poppy: Poppy has recovered from a severe UTI that was caused from her lack of grooming and overall neglect. Her skin is healing and her coat is coming back beautifully. She was spayed last week and is almost ready to find her forever home. We were able to save her gorgeous eyes but she will require daily medication for the duration of her life. At this time her medication is $50-$75/month. Please consider this expense in your decision to apply for Poppy.

Poppy came to us on 8/7/2020 from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She was severely matted and in pretty rough shape. She has a vet appt 8/11. Stay tune for updates on Poppy.

Peep

Lil'' Peep is a 2 year old male Basset Pitbull Mix that came to us from Bakersfield City Animal Control Center on March 24, 2020. He doesn't let his short stature slow him down. He plays well with other dogs even though they are taller than him. Stay tuned for more on Lil' Peep.

tyson

Tyson came to us from Kern County Animal Services on 9/8/2020. This beautiful boxer pup is just under a year old. The best thing is watching him wag his full size tail. He is very smart and sweet. Stay tuned for updates on Tyson!

Hank jiggles jr

Jiggles came to us on 7/16/20 from Kern County Animal Services.He was picked up as a public stray on 7/2. At least 20 pounds overweight this guy quickly became a shelter staff favorite. Once we got him to the ranch he fit right in with the pack. He is not enjoying his diet but is enjoying his treadmill time. Jiggles loves everyone/everything that he meets. He has cherry eye surgery scheduled on 9/1. Until then he will continue his diet and hopefully be ready for adoption by October.

gage

Gage came to us 8-7-2020 from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is just under a year old and is as sweet as can be. He love dogs and people and is super eager to learn. Stay tuned for more on Gage!

Memphis

Update on Memphis: Memphis was returned to the rescue after being in her home for 13 months. She is adjusting well here at the ranch. She is still sweet as can be and still always has her tongue hanging out. She came back with an ear and anal gland infection but we have treated those. She is also now overweight but it responding well to her diet. Stay tuned for more on Memphis.

Memphis is a 1 yr old Lab/Pittie Mix that we rescued from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on July 18, 2018. She had been in the shelter since April. This sweet girl loves her doggy and kitty foster siblings. She is doing well with crate training and sleeps through the night. She loves to play but also enjoys a good cuddle session. Memphis will be an all-around great addition to any family.

sassy

Sassy is a 2 year old pitty who came to us May 23, 2020 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is a happy go lucky excited girl. She learns very quick. She likes to play with dogs and kids but also likes to explore the yard on her own. She gives great kisses. She is doing well on the leash and crate training.

jasmine

Jasmine came to us on January 7 from Kern County Animal Services. She was in desperate need of grooming and a dental. She is about 8-10 years old and the cutest little poodle weighing in just under 12 lbs. She received her grooming and then was treated for Kennel Cough. We went to the Vet this morning for pre-surgical bloodwork and dental and didn't receive the best news. Jasmine has a level 3.5 heart murmur on her right side and was also presenting with symptoms of a respiratory infection. We opted to do a chest xray along with her senior blood panel. Her heart is definitely enlarged, about 4 ribs worth, as well as two peculiar nodules on the top of her heart. Her trachea is extremely displaced. She has sever arthritis in her elbows, shoulders and rear hips. Her stomach is displaced 90 degrees in the wrong direction. She is not digesting food at a normal rate, which is causing back up. And she has a large mass on or near her liver that is probably the cause of the displacement in her other organs. She has been placed on antibiotics for her sinus/respiratory infection but at this point she is probably not healthy enough to be a surgical candidate. The good news is that Jasmine doesn't know she is sick and is happy as can be. So we will do what we always do, which is to lover her and keep her comfortable for as long as we can.

Sara

Sara came to SOS Dog Rescue on 4/26/2020. Sara was the runt out of a litter of 5 and had to be separated from her siblings to improve her chances of survival. Things were touch and go for this German Shepherd mix in the beginning, but currently she's almost two weeks old and is doing well in her foster home. This petite little one weighed just .72 oz when she arrived at her fosters home but she now weighs 1.12 lbs. Sara is getting powdered puppy milk but because she's not getting the full nutrients she needs to thrive she's also getting supplementation of extra vitamins/ minerals. Sara will not be available for adoption until she is fully vaccinated and spayed. Stay tune for more information on Sara.

Tegan

Tegan came to us May 20, 2020 from Kern County Animal Services. She is a littermate of Sara's. Their mom had abandoned the litter at birth. Tegan and her brothers went to foster care and Sara came to us for special care. Now that they are almost 5 weeks old we have reunited Tegan and Sara so that they can learn very important puppy life lessons from each other while we get them both ready for adoption. Stone

Stone is a 4 year old pitty who came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on May 23, 2020. Stone is a very playful pup. He loves to run around the yard with Sassy & Memphis. He is very good and respectful with kids. His leash training is going well and he loves attention from all humans.

lala

LaLa is a 14-15 yr old senior chihuahua that came to us June 19, 2020 from Kern County Animal Services. She was suffering from severe flea dermatitis as well as sever dental neglect. She not only has zero teeth but all the bone has deteriorated to the point that she has no bottom jam either. She is resting comfortable in medical fospice.

Raine

Raine came to us on 5-15-2020 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center and officially became an SOS pup on 5-20 after her stray hold was complete. She is a 4 month old puppy who is sweet as can be. She has a sever fracture in her arm that was never treated, could have occurred as early as birth. Because it was not addressed her radial bone never developed and her other bones fused wrong deeming the leg inoperable. She is scheduled for amputation on June 4th. Stay tuned for updates on Raine.

lulu

Lulu came to SOS Dog Rescue as our Give Big Kern 2020 shelter pull from the City of Bakersfield Animal Control on May 5, 2020. She is estimated to be about 3 years old weight around 50lbs. Lulu is crate, kennel and house trained, good with kids and dogs. She absolutely loves the water and her dog pool! Our big girl knows how to sit and shake on command and we are working with her on the leash. She is just very excited to have people that love her. She is working through becoming familiar with cats, and we believe in a short time she will be great. She is settling into her foster home. Please stay tuned for more updates on our Lulu girl.

cooper (fox mulder)

Cooper originally came to SOS in 2018 as Fox Mulder and was one of our first rescues. We believe he is now about 2 1/2-3 years old. His family was no longer able to care for him after a personal setback recently and we welcome him back to the rescue with open arms. Cooper is a very sweet and loving younger (or insert age) mixed breed, about 10 pounds. He is short and long with the face of a Doxie, but with luxuriously longer fur like a pomeranian, so he will need regular grooming. Cooper has had training with Canine Mindset, does great with kids, cats and all kinds of dogs, but likes a pack with mellow energy. He needs a home that understands he needs gentle boundaries and a consistent routine to help him with separation anxiety which may cause behaviors like licking paws and being very attached to his human. We are happy to provide coaching on separation anxiety to his adopter to set his new family up for success. Cooper is doing great with his potty manners in foster and is one of the happiest little guys we've ever met.

bELLE

Belle came back to SOS Dog Rescue in May 2020 due her family have issues with the Covid Pandemic. Belle is settling back in with her original foster and becoming more comfortable now. She needs a home where she can feel safe, and she is not your typical small purse dog, she doesn't like to be carried around and shown off. Belle prefers a quite home where she can cuddle when she wants to and be left to her princess ways when she wants. She is a great dog on her terms and we look forward to watching her come out of her shell again!

Belle is our senior Yorkie that came into
Kern County Animal Services on 1/22/2020. She was in very bad shape, matted hair around her eyes and couldn't see, extremely emaciated, and rotting teeth. We dispatched our team immediately to the shelter to pick up this little 3 lb gal. We believe she is about 7 yrs old. Since she has been in foster, she has gained weight, got a dental (and a few teeth pulled) and is learning to trust and be loved. Belle currently still has many reservations, and really enjoys her food, however she's starting to come out of her shell! Belle will need a family that understands she is scared and needs lots of love. Belle's foster is
also working on her potty training, however she loves her crate, it is her safe place and little den. Belle is kid friendly, dog friendly, cat friendly. Stay tuned for more information on our sweet Belle.

river

March 2020 Update:

River made it through surgery and is doing amazing. She is on crate rest for 6 weeks at Shadow Ranch. She will have multiple bandage changes, x-rays and physical therapy to ensure she is heeling correctly. She is doing as good as possible for being a puppy on crate rest. After she is healed and cleared from her leg, she will need to be spayed, and then will be available for adoption. We will keep up with updates.

River is a 5 month old English Bulldog puppy who came to us February 29th from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. Animal Control picked her up running stay with an obvious broken leg. We took her strait to the ER, Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital, where she went back for X-rays. The Doctor called us to let us know that her break was so severe that it could not be fixed without an Orthopedic Specialist. We picked her up, and drove strait to VCA West Los Angeles. She has a Condylar Fracture of the front Humerus. She will undergo surgery to attempt to save her leg. Stay tuned for more on River.

Gunner

Gunner was about 4 months old when we picked him up from the shelter in April 2018. He was attacked by a large animal prior to being picked up by animal control. We took him straight from the shelter to the vet where he underwent surgery for multiple bite wounds. He is fully recovered from his injuries.

Update on Gunner: He is now about 13 months old (May 2019) and is currently residing at Shadow Ranch where is continuing his training. Gunner was previously adopted out twice in the last 8 months and both scenarios just weren't the right fit. Gunner is a playful, energetic puppy who requires boundaries to stay on the right tract. He is great with people but does not do well with every dog so at this time we are only accepting applications where Gunner will be the only dog in the household.

Jackson

Jackson is a 1yr old Rottweiler that came to us from Kern County Animal Services on July 12th. This 95lb hunk of love is as sweet as can be. He gets along with calm confident dogs and loves to give people snuggles and kisses. Stay tuned for more on Jackson!

Max

Max was picked up by animal control on May 9th, 2019. We came across him at Kern County Animal Services on May 22 and instantly knew he was to become part of the SOS family. Max was suffering from a pretty severe upper respiratory infection but after a couple weeks of treatment he overcame it like a champ. He is about 3 yrs old and 85 lbs, good size for this blonde Labrador retriever. He is super friendly and loves to carry sticks around the yard. He is infatuated with water and loves country music. Mabel

Mabel came to us on May 15, 2020 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is a senior shepherd with severe hip dysplasia and an undiagnosed tumor on her leg. We have her on pain management and she has settled in perfect in fospice care. We wish we had the pleasure of meeting her sooner but we are enjoying every moment of the time she has left.

lola

Update on Lola February 2020:

Lola is settling in very well in her
foster home with her SOS Alumni brother Emmett. She enjoys playing with him and
getting all the attention.

Update on Lola October 2019:

After testing Lola with cats, we believe
she should be in a home without cats. We don't believe she is cat aggressive, she is just cat reactive and wants to play a little to much with them, Lola is
also "queen bee" and enjoys being a leader in our pack here at the ranch.

Lola became part of the SOS family on September 5th from Kern County Animal Services. She is a little over a year old and very sweet. She is doing very adjusting to life as a family dog. She gets along with people, kids & dogs. She is kennel trained, walks good on a leash and loves nothing more in the world then to flop on her back and get belly rubs.

Gigi

Gigi came to us at about 1 1/2 years on February 10, 2020 from Kern County Animal Services. She is dog and kid friendly and is settling in well at Shadow Ranch with her "brothers" stay tuned for more on Gigi. Stay tuned for more information on Gigi.

Stella

Update from Foster March 2020:

Stella is settling in very well at her foster house. Stella suffers from chronic dry eyes and will be on medication the rest of her life. She is partially blind now, and will completely loose her eye site at some point. But that doesn't stop this beauty. Stella gets around the house and yard very well. She is potty trained, crate trained, kid friendly, cat friendly, and enjoys all her dog siblings. She is a big couch potato and just enjoys to relax. As she is a little over weight, we are watching her treats and taking her for small walks, although she prefers life in the stroller :) Stella is vaccinated, microchiped, spayed and just had her dental completed, and had 9 teeth pulled. Her mouth was rotten when she got to SOS. We have healed her up and she is now looking for her forever family. She is a true gem!

Stella is our 8 year old senior pug. She came to the rescue on 2/29/20 from Bakersfield City Animal Shelter. She was a shelter favorite. Stay tuned for more info on Stella.

daisy duke

Daisy Duke came to SOS Dog Rescue on March 17, 2020 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Control Center as a shelter favorite. She is an 11 month old beautiful pitbull with fun ears. She loves to dance and is enjoying settling into their foster family. Daisy is house trained and kennel trained. She has a high energy level and we are working with her on calming some down with her kids and cats. She is learning to greet her kids sitting down and calming her energy. She loves treats and walks. ruger

Ruger came to us on 3/4/2020 from the Bakersfield Animal Control Care Center. He was a shelter favorite. Ruger is estimated to be about 1 year old. He is settling great at Shadow Ranch. He is dog friendly, kid friendly, and showed no interest in cats at the shelter. He is easily trainable, crate trained, and would make an amazing companion for a Veteran. Ruger is still in need for neutering. Stay tuned for more on Ruger.

pUGSLEY

Pugsley came to SOS Dog Rescue on 3/3/2020 from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is a 7yr old chunky monkey who is already best friends with one of his hooman foster brothers. Luckily Pugsley is already neutered, but he is in desperate need of a dental, blood-work, and eye medication for chronic dry eye. His appointment is scheduled fro 3/10/20. Sarge

Update from Foster March 2020:

Sarge is enjoying life in the house with his foster family. He is amazing with big and little dogs, big and little kids, and cats. He enjoys being right by your side. We are working with Sarge on separation anxiety, as he is not currently a fan of being left alone, and doesn't like boundaries. If it was his way, he would be snuggled up next to you 24/7. He walks amazing on a leash and is enjoying his play time with this hooman kids.

Sarge came to us from Bakersfield City Animal Services on February 18,2020. Sarge is a Boxer Mix and he is approximately 2 years old and is a sweet teddy bear. Sarge was named after SOS's Veteran Outreach Coordinator, James Ryan. He was a Sergeant in the USMC and was medically discharged, and continuing his service at SOS Dog Rescue helping dogs and Veterans. Sarge is great with male and female dogs, and sweet as can be to people. He is neutered and vaccinated and settling in at Shadow Ranch very well. Stay tuned for more information on Sarge.

BaRRY BENSON

Update on Barry Benson February 2020

Barry is a doing amazing in his foster home, he is a handsome livestock guardian, border collie mix that does well with his fosters livestock, other dogs, cats, and is EXCELLENT with children. Barry will need to go to a house with other dogs currently living in it. Barry is house trained, crate trained, and is as smart as can be with a number of special skills to include knocking on the door to come back inside. Barry will do anything to play a round of soccer or fetch like learning a new trick. Barry does enjoy to chew and shred toys and sticks. Barry is a pretty paw-some dog!!

Barry Benson came to us at about 8 months

Update on Amber February 2020

Amber is such an amazing gal, she is
settling well with her new foster family. It took her almost no time to fit in with her furry siblings, and she loves to play. Amber is doing great with interacting with Cats in her foster home. She is such a well behaved girl.

Amber came to us in November 2019 from
City of Bakersfield Animal Control. She is expected to be 1-2 years old and is a mixed breed. Amber is Dog Friendly, Kid Friendly, Cuddle Bug, House Broken, Crate Trained and has heeled from her spay. Stay tuned for more information on

Kobe

Update February 2020:

Kobe is settling in very well in her foster home. She is such a sweet little gal! She is KID friendly, DOG friendly, CAT friendly, she walks well on a leash, she is crate trained and house broken. She is a steal of a dog. Kobe got spayed on 2/13/2020 and is recovering nicely and will be up for adoption soon.

Kobe came to us on February 6, 2020 from the
Bakersfield Animal Control Center. Kobe is expected to be 1 year old Queensland Heeler. She is such a sweet girl. Stay tuned for more info on Kobe.

hershey

Hershey came to us August 6 from Kern County Animal Services. He is a 2yr old Chocolate Lab weighing in at just under 60 lbs. His favorite thing to do is play in the water. He like to play fetch but is still learning so at this time it can turn into a game of keep away as he hasn't figured out how to bring it back consistently. He is looking for a full time job as he is a very active pup. He gets along great with the dogs at the Ranch and is learning manners and boundaries every day.

saki

Saki came to us from Kern County Animal Services on December 21, 2019, we completed her stray hold and no owners came forward so she became an official SOS Dog on December 28, 2019. Saki is a 14 year old Shiba Inu/Pomeranian mix who is deaf and blind. Weighing in at just under 9 lbs this little girl gave us a scare the first few days but after some good food and great love she now has some pep in her step and is living the life in a medical fospice home.

snickerdoodle

Snickers came to us from Kern County Animal Services on December 29th, 2019. This 12 year old snaggletooth poodle is so much fun. He is not a fan of taking his medicine but he is a fan of dancing for treats and snuggling like a bug in a rug next to you. He has a high grade heart murmur and is missing more than half his teeth but that hasn't slowed him down one bit.

Note from Foster: Snickers is doing very well adjusting to home life in his foster! He is dog friendly, cat friendly, kid friendly and is a snuggle bug. He is learning to become familiar with his crate, as he has separation anxiety and we are working on him not marking. He is scheduled for neuter and dental on Jan 16. He is currently on medication for his mouth infection and arthritis in his spine and the meds are truly helping relieve some discomfort. He enjoys walking on a leash and just likes to be with you! He loves to dance for treats and toys, and is coming out of his shell! He will do best in a home where people are home a majority of the time. Stay tuned for more on Snickerdoodle!

riley

Riley came to us from the Delano Animal Shelter on December 20, 2019. This 4 year old Boston Terrier was picked up stray by animal control and taken directly to the vet. Riley had been attacked by another animal which caused her to lose one eye, have surgery on the other and treat her many puncture wounds and scrapes. She was very shy the first few days but has since been blossoming into a fun, playful little girl.

Note from Foster: Riley is a champion. She was found stray in a rural Kern County community suffering from horrific injuries consistent with an animal attack. Animal control took her immediately for emergency medical treatment where we stepped up to help. She may have lost her right eye but that hasn't stopped her from making a full recovery and not just surviving but thriving in life. Riley is an example of resiliency and courage for us all and battled through her physical pain and emotional scars to learn to trust and love again. She is a typical young Boston Terrier, curious about her surroundings, playful, social and loving to her human and canine companions. Riley does excellent with children and younger dogs her size and larger. Riley's energy can be a little "extra" for cats and smaller or senior dogs, and continues to work on her basic obedience. She is potty trained, crate trained and does great on car trips. The ideal home for Riley would be an active family with children and one or two other younger dogs to play with. She needs a loving, patient home willing to give her structure and consistency to help her continued healing and growth.

saint

Saint came to us from the Ridgecrest Animal Shelter on December 3rd 2019. At about 11 months old this spunky little pit bull has been nothing but a joy to be around. Saint gets along with dogs, cats, kids and anything else he meets. Loud noises to get kind of scary for him but he is working through this and building his confidence day by day. Saint has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and is currently seeking his new family.

Note from Fosters: Saint is really enjoying his time in a house! He is an amazing big guy! He loves kids, dogs of all sizes, cats, he is potty trained and loves all kinds of toys! He is crate and kennel trained. He enjoys walking with his pitbull brother and is learning confidence on a leash. He is still puppy and will get into things if unsupervised due to his curiosity but understands when corrected. He is learning to eat calmly in terms of taking a breath between bites. He takes treats amazingly soft from his little hoomans. Saint is very much enjoying relaxing in his foster home and playing! Saint is ready to go to his forever home!

casper

Casper is a senior, rescued from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. We think he is a Pomeranian mix, perhaps with Chihuahua, so he is smaller in stature but still a fluffball! He may only be 5.5 lbs, but don't let that fool you....Casper is packed with love and personality! He bonds quickly with his caregiver and needs help knowing he will not be abandoned. Sometimes this appears as defending his person or needing attention. He was recently neutered and had a dental procedure so he is ready to be your BFF. We can help you learn to help Casper overcome his fear of abandonment if you have the love and patience for him. We'd love to show you how fulfilling the adoption of an awesome senior dog can be. Hat trick

Hat Trick is our loving 3-legged boy who came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center after the amputation of his leg from a car accident. He is the epitome of resiliency and forgiveness.

ruby

Ruby came to us on November 2nd from the Ridgecrest Animal Shelter. She is quite the spunky character. Ruby had 3 tumors (including the one pictured) removed and they were diagnosed as malignant cancer. Ruby is feeling so much better after her surgery and is not letting cancer slow her down one bit. She loves to snuggle with people of all ages, she loves the companionship of other animals. Despite her diagnosis we hope/believe that Ruby has many happy years in front of her.

Victory

Update on Victory: Victory was a very sweet girl who already had her forever home lined up when we discovered that she had Distemper. If Victory had been vaccinated as a puppy she would not have lost her life. Please vaccinate your pets. Victory crossed over on November 2 in the loving arms of her foster mom.

Victory is a 7 month old Belgian Malinois puppy. She became part of the SOS pack on 9/18/19 from Kern County Animal Services.

Emmett

Emmett came to us August 8 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. We can only imagine what this sweet boy endured his first 4 years of life. When he got to the shelter he had a severe case of demodex mange which had caused sores hair loss and pain. Both ears have been mutilated at the hands of humans, he was severely underweight and scared. Upon entering foster care he is has been learning not only what love is but what the inside of a house is. Nothing was familiar to him which leads us to believe that he may have never been indoors before. He is super friendly and just wants to be pet.

Note from Foster Mom:

Emmett is doing great in his foster home! His hair is coming back quickly, he is steadily putting on weight and he still loves to look at himself in the mirror 😆. He's learning how to play with toys and he loves to run around and go on walks. He walks well on a leash, he's house trained and he loves to cuddle and be pet. Emmett has come out of his shell so much in the short time he's been with SOS, we can't wait to see how much more progress he makes!

Justice

Justice is a 7 month old Labrador Mix puppy that came to us from the Ridgecrest Animal Shelter. She is a typical puppy… Lots of energy and lots of love to give. Stay tuned for more on Justice!

Vinny

Update on Vinny: Vinny was returned yesterday after being in his home for a year. We are still trying to figure out why because he is just as sweet as he was when he left us. His vaccinations have been updated and he is looking for his new family that will love him forever.

Vinny is about 3 years old. He came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on Aug 25th. He had been attacked by a larger animal prior to arriving at the shelter. We immediately took him to the ER where he was shaved and underwent surgery to address multiple bite wounds and severe anemia. He is currently recovering in his foster home.

Note from his Foster Mom:
What can I say about Vinny! He's cute and he KNOWS it! Vinny is your typical playfully smart terrier. He came into the city shelter badly injured by what appeared to be a larger dog. Severely anemic and needing to have all his wounds closed up and tended to, he was rescued by SOS. In his foster home Vinny adores children and other dogs. He thinks cats are awesome too and loves a good harmless game of chase. My cats are not impressed LOL
Vinny is healthy and still fairly young at around 3 years. He doesn't completely love the crate but settles down quickly and doesn't make too much of a fuss. Vinny travels well in the car and does well on leash. He would love a fairly active home with some kids to play with. At only about 12 pounds he's a perfect compact side and makes himself right at home on the couch or even your lap.

Alexander

Alexander was found running stray on July 5th and taken to Kern County Animal Services. We went down on July 11th to rescue him and his kennel mate. Upon arrival we found out his friend had already been adopted so we scooped up Alex so he wouldn't have to spend a minute alone. He is a little unsure of this big scary world but doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. Once we got him back to Shadow Ranch we immediately bathed him and gave him a dose of NexGard as he was covered in ticks. Alexander has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He gets along with dogs and people and didn't show much interest in the cat he met at the Vet. He is kennel trained and not very vocal. He does tinkle in his crate when he is in a moving car. Alex just wants to find a family of his own to settle in and love.

liberty

Liberty came to us on September 10, 2019 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She had been in the shelter for a little over a month and we can't figure out why. This 5 year old girl is the prettiest, sweetest, friendliest German Shepherd you ever will meet. She is kind of laid back, has minimal anxiety for her breed, gets along with dogs of all sizes and loves to be with people.

Gypsy

Gypsy came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on 09/10/19. She is a 8-10 year old Shih Tzu with the most beautiful markings. Gypsy has been groomed and awaiting her appointment for spay & dental.

gary

Gary came to us on August 27, 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. Gary is a 14 year old Yorkie picked up as a stray by Kern County Animal Services. He might be both deaf and blind and toothless but he still "nose" how to get around! Gary uses his sense of smell to navigate his world. He can quickly adapt to a new environment by making a smell map of his surroundings over a few days. He is a super sweet and cuddly little old man who wants to go everywhere you go. Gary needs a " seeing eye person" to assist him through life. He does not have accidents if taken out on a schedule to use the potty. Gary does well with other animals and loves to snuggle with other smaller dogs in bed and on the sofa. He has done fine with being crated for short periods of time. Gary is relatively easy to care for, is not on any medication. He does have to eat thinned canned dog food due to missing teeth and an oral-nasal fistula. Gentle cleaning of his gums after eating can help prevent respiratory infections. If you'd love to give this sweetheart a lap to cuddle on and the dignity he deserves at the end of his journey, please apply!

Von

Von came to us from Kern County Animal Services on 7-26-19. He had been picked up by animal control the week before near Hart Flat. His coat was overgrown and embedded with foxtails and goat heads, he was emaciated and scared. This 3 year old Border Collie is coming out of his shell as each day goes by. Von has the most soulful eyes and has already touched the hearts of every person he's met. He like to play but is pretty laid back for a border collie as he prefers spending most of his time sitting near you and staring into your eyes. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes but definitely prefers for things to stay low energy and calm.

Billie

Billie came to us on May 7th 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. At just about 18 months old she is as sweet as can be. We believe that she is a Belgian Malinois mix. We pulled her during Give Big Kern and she is named after Billy the Give Big Goat to honor such a wonderful program hosted annually for local nonprofit organizations. Billie loves people and is getting more comfortable and confident around dogs everyday. We are working on her jumping but she is already potty trained and crate trained.

Dinky D

Dinky D came to us from Kern County Animal Services in July 2019. He is just under 2 years old and has the most beautiful markings throughout his 127 lb body.

Update from Foster:

Introducing Dinky D aka Dink Dink! He's a two year purebred Merle Great Dane that likes his eggs over medium or scrambled and his coffee with a splash of heavy cream, just kidding, that's his foster mom's preference, he's just a countertop surfer that has been known to sample her breakfast when she is distracted. Dinky D has adjusted well to farm living and does well with all of the livestock, dogs, cats but isn't quite sure about that loud parrot, she's kind of scary. He walks well on a leash and loves car rides. This precious toe licker just wants to be by your side, or to lay his head on your shoulder and loves all, from children to adults. gizmo

Update as of July 2019:

Now that we've spent a few months with this little fella we have decided that he still has lots of love to give and is now looking for his forever home. His senior blood work came back excellent so he was cleared for surgery and has since been neutered. He gets along great with dogs and people. He is crate trained, potty trained and couch potato trained :)

May 20th 2019:

Gizmo is the cutest little ol' fella you ever did meet. He came to us on May 20th 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. The shelter thinks he is about 12 years old. His spirit animal is definitely a guinea pig as he is about the size of one weighing in and under 5 lbs. He is anxiously awaiting his senior wellness check at the vet. Update on Gizmo June 2019 :

Gizmo is loving life in his foster home. He is now 6 lbs and loves to strut every pound around the yard playing with his foster siblings. He has a luxating patella is his rear right leg but it does not seem to bother him or his ability to get around. Due to poor dental hygiene in his younger years he also has few teeth left and his jaw has suffered sever bone loss which is irreversible at this point. This however does not prohibit him from eating or drinking. Despite all of this the vet says he is in excellent health for his age which is probably older than 12 years old.

Petey

Petey is a 6yr old Shih Tzu that we rescued from KCAS on July 11th. He is a 2-time owner surrender and we can't figure out why. Word on the street was that he was "dog reactive" but he gets along with everyone here at Shadow Ranch. He is about 20lbs of fluffy cuteness. He does have a little separation anxiety when in his crate but it presents as vocal only and has not been destructive in any way. We are working on this as well as his potty training. conner

Conner came to us on May 22, 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. He was picked up by animal control running stray on the East side of Bakersfield a few weeks prior to us meeting him. He is super sweet and friendly with everyone he comes in contact with. He tends to move at his own pace, which is slow. He is potty trained and has done fantastic in his kennel here at Shadow Ranch. He loves to play with Billie in the yard whenever he gets the chance.

hope

Meet Hope, an approximately 2 years old gorgeous Mini Australian Shepherd. Found on the east side of Bakersfield with a huge Fibrosarcoma tumor on her cute little nose and taken to Kern County Animal Services by a good samaritan. KCAS removed the tumor before she was taken into the care of a SOS Dog Rescue foster. Hope is a shy girl but opens up quickly when you bring yourself to her level. She is very gentle with every person and animal she has come into contact with. A true water dog that loves to cool off in her personal doggie pool on a hot day. Hope is house broken and does not chew or bark. She is seeking a home with at least one other dog, as she has bonded with one of her foster brothers like he's her guardian. All in all she is a very sweet and loving girl that is bound to steal the heart of whoever is lucky enough to adopt her.

mr. Roscoe Peabody

Mr. Roscoe Peabody is the cutest 6 year old, 11 pound, mini Doxie you ever did meet. His handsome and distinguished good looks will melt your heart. He came to us from Kern County Animal Services unsure and afraid but with some stability and love he has blossomed into a confident fun little guy. He loves to run around the yard and roll around in the dirt. He likes classical music at night but during the day you can catch him singing (howling) along with some hip hop or upbeat jazz. He is crate trained, house trained and has pretty decent recall. He also loves to cuddle upset down on your chest nestled in as tight as he can get. He would do best with someone who is home most of the time as he doesn't like to be left alone for too long.

Bailey

Introducing Bailey! This approximately 1.5 year old Spaniel mix was found at the Dollar Tree on the Eastside of Bakersfield when he decided to stop and do some shopping. He was picked up by a Good Samaritan and taken to Kern County Animal Services where he crossed paths with a volunteer for SOS Rescue.

Bailey is currently being fostered on a mini ranch where he's living peacefully with everything from children, livestock, birds, dogs and kittens. He seamlessly integrated into his foster home and is a lovable, cuddly pup that knows no stranger.

He enjoys napping throughout the day but is quite the agile pup. He is neutered, current on his shots, kennel, crate and house trained. Ideally he'd do well with an active family and would be an amazing running/hiking/ agility dog prospect. Apply to adopt Bailey today! He's ready for his happily ever after, will it be with you?

Panda

Panda came to us from Kern County Animal Services on March 19, 2019. In an effort to make sure Panda thrives in his forever home we are only accepting applications where there is at least one other dog in the household.

Note from Foster Mom:

Have you met Panda? He's a happy, healthy 3 year old Newfoundland/ border collie mix that has the potential to be an amazing therapy dog. With the coat of a Newfoundland and the legs of a border collie, Panda enjoys spending his days lounging around the house napping both indoors and out. Due to his extra fluffy coat, keeping him on a regular grooming schedule will be necessary, so please take that into consideration when thinking about bringing this handsome dog into your life.

You may be asking how a dog this amazing, that loves everyone and is a stranger to none, could've ended up at the animal shelter. His owner was ill and could no longer provide adequate care for Panda. So at no fault of his own, Panda was surrendered to Kern County Animal Services in Mojave with a lot of matting and a double ear infection. From there he made his way to Bakersfield to receive veterinary care and ended up in the path of one of our SOS volunteers. Panda is house as well as crate trained and is currently being fostered on a mini ranch in Bakersfield. He gets along with all of the animals, from cattle to cats, the children in the home and everything in between. We couldn't pass on this wonderful dog and you shouldn't either.

oliver

Oliver came to us on April 17, 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. He was about 10 weeks old at that time. Stay tuned for updates on Oliver!

Trixie

Trixie came to us from the parking lot at Kern County Animal Services on Feb 12 2019. She is a 5-6 yr old white boxer. She can hear and see. Upon completion of her stray hold she went to the vet. He stated that she is in great health with the exception of a mast cell tumor on her rear hip. Her surgery was a success and her biopsy revealed she is cancer free. She does not have typical "boxer energy". She much prefers to stay calm on the couch with her humans most of the day.

Note from Foster Parents:

Trixie is a wonderful loving dog that is now available here at SOS.
She came to SOS as very underweight but has since put on almost twenty pounds, her mast cell tumor was removed and the vet has declared her cancer free. She is now spayed and chipped and in great health.

Trixie gets along well with our pack and has learned much from them. She is still a bit shy but is learning to trust more and more. She is now well balanced, has learned to sit but could use more work on a lead/leash.

She loves to cuddle and be around humans.
She does like to chase our cat.

Nash

Nash came to us on May 18th 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. He is about a year old and loves to cuddle and take selfies. He is looking for a very active family to give him lots of attention. He is potty trained. Stay tuned for more on Nash.

Sailor came to us on April 12, 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. He was about 10-11 weeks old.

Note from Foster Mom:

Meet Sailor J!! This approximately 11 week old puppy is going to be a big boy! Believed to be a Bernese Mountain Dog mixed with a short coat Border Collie, there's no telling how long he was wandering through the fields in East Bakersfield. A good samaritan picked him up and took him to Kern County Animal Services where a plea was sent out for rescue. We were fortunate enough to have a foster available in the area and he became an SOS dog April 12th.

Sailor currently is being fostered on a mini ranch where he has been interacting daily with other dogs, cats, livestock, and children. He is a well rounded puppy that will make an amazing addition to any household. When not running and playing with the other dogs he spends his time lounging in the sun. Sailor is kennel/crate trained and does well indoors and out.

Bambi

Bambi came to us from the Lake Isabella Shelter on 9-11-18. She was found as a stray and being picked on by other dogs. She is about 4yrs old and a beautiful brown brindle chihuahua. She is very shy but wants to trust the world again. Stay tuned for updates on Bambi.

Update: Bambi is really coming out of her shell. She definitely warms up to women faster than men. She prefers to have multiple dogs around her to help boost her confidence. She is house trained and crate trained. She is very treat/food motivated and likes the occasional toy. She's not super fond of being picked up but she does love to climb in your lap and snuggle.

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea came to us on March 2 2019 from Kern County Animal Services. She had been in a medical foster and was probably not going to do well going back into the shelter environment so we had to help. She is about 6 yrs old (waiting for confirmation) and very sweet. She will be visiting the vet soon for check up, dental and grooming. Stay Tuned for updates on Sweet Pea :)

Sally

Sally came to us on January 22, 2019 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She was picked up as a stray completed matted and terrified. Sally is an 11 year old Yorkie who is both sweet and sassy. Upon her initial vet visit they discovered a tumor on her heart that is most likely cancerous. Due to her age and risk surgery is not an option for Sally. She is currently in Fospice learning to trust again and enjoying day to day life. If you would like to give Sally a forever home for what time she has last, which is unknown at this time, let us know. In the meantime she is safe, comfortable and loved with us :)

Winston

Winston is a 2-3 year old blonde Schnauzer mix who came to us from Kern County Animal Services on Feb 28 2019. He is quiet, loving and playful.

Note from Foster Mom:

Winston is a very well behaved dog. He is excellent in his crate, is housebroken, and loves to sleep on the bed if given the chance but will also take to his own doggy bed. He gets along well with all our dogs both large and small, is NOT food aggressive and prefers to be inside most of the day. He gets along with children, rarely barks, and rides excellently in the car. He gets excited about the cat and parrot but has not offered to do any harm to them. Winston would do well with any family that wants a mellow house dog.

kodi

This very handsome Husky/Shepherd Mix came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on November 8th. He is about 2 years old and had been in the shelter for over a month. He is dog friendly and people friendly but not a big fan of cats so far. Kodi is very eager to please and a quick learner. He is already neutered and ready to find his forever family.

Grandpa

This little fella will steal your heart. Grandpa came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on November 9th. Weighing in at a little over 4 lbs he doesn't let anything get in his way. He is believed to be about 15-16 years old, has no teeth and missing some hair but is still as adorable as can be. His hobbies include napping, begging for treats and snuggling in your arms.

Josie

Josie is our mysterious princess… Is she part spaniel?, part border collie?, we don't know but we do know that she is about 14lbs of 100% cuteness. Josie is about 8 months old and will be ready to embark on our next journey in life within the next few weeks. Stay tuned for updates!

Sunny

Sunny came to us on December 1st from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is a 9month old Great Pyrenees mix. He is super friendly and so far gets along with just about everyone and everything except he is a little afraid of the goose at his foster's. Stay tuned for great things from Sunny.

Wally

Wally came to us August 17th from the Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is a stunning brindle Mastiff mix. As you can see he has a severe case of cherry eye. He is also very underweight. Stay tuned for updates on Wally's recovery and journey!

Stud Mastiff Seeks Long-Term Relationship: I am approximately 2 years old. I am currently recovering from cherry eye surgery. My current room mates (and foster humans) are watching it closely to make sure it heals up, it's just something that happens to my breed. But my adorable droopy eyes make up for it! Some of my favorite activities include rolling in the grass, napping, and drooling all over your furniture. I love people and am very playful. I'm still learning how to play with other dogs, and I really love chasing cats! I'm nearly a 100lbs of silly, snoring, slobbering love. Let me know if you think we might be a perfect match!

elmer

Elmer is doing amazing. He is healing well from his neuter, no complications. He has mastered the sit command, can hold a 15 to 30 second stay, and is doing well learning his down command. He is communicating well with the other dogs and doesn't resource guard at all. All three dogs in the house share all the toys. He has fully adjusted to the cats as well. He walks great on a leash. He loves cuddles with people and with other animals

Sugar & Spice

Sugar came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on November 29th. She is a 2 year old White and Gray Shih Tzu/Poodle Mix. This sweet girl was a matted mess that was scared of just about everything. She is currently in foster learning how to be a dog.

Fox Mulder

This sweet boy came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on November 8th. He is ridiculously sweet and friendly. At about 8 months old this Papillon/Pomeranian mix is already becoming a well mannered young man. Stay tuned for updates :)

Darla

Darla came to us on October 30th from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is about a year old and the calmest Queensland we've ever met. She does well with dogs and cats but prefers the love of humans. She would be a great addition to any home that is willing to receive unconditional love.

Carly

Carly came to us in October from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is about 2yrs old and very friendly. She did not know what "being inside" was until she met us. Originally afraid of the TV, Couch, Refrigerator etc… she is now thriving in her foster home and learning what it's like to be loved. She gets along with dogs but can be a little pushy since she always wants to play. She takes correction well from both dogs and humans and is learning more and more manners everyday. She is ok with the right cats but may be better off in a home without them. We can't wait to see the young lady she is blossoming into.

Seymour

Seymour is a 10yr old grumpy old man who came to us on 9-12 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He was a matted mess with a double ear infection, rotten teeth and a luxating patella. We are getting him all fixed up and he is enjoying the pampered life of foster care. Keep an eye out for the new and improved Seymour.

Update: Seymour is loving life in his foster home in Los Angeles. He gets along great with large dogs, small dogs and cats. He is all healed up and would love to find a loving home to spend his senior years in.

charlie

Charlie is a 2 year old Lhasa Apso Mix who came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on October 18th. He is currently in foster and awaiting his spa day to get all cleaned up and ready for his forever home. He gets along with dogs, cats and people. Stay Tuned for updates on Charlie.

Note from Charlie:
I have thrived in my foster home, I have been really good about not piddling in the house, I sleep very snuggly and quietly in my crate with my bed and toys, I love to bounce around like a rabbit, I have gotten to go on hikes in my own back yard with my human foster sister, I LOVE her so much, I love my foster mommies doggies too!! They have taught me that being at home is more fun than running away! I don't quite understand the concept of a cats life so I just stand and stare at them, their kinda weird. I love my foster family and can't wait to have my forever family!!

cajun

Cajun was pulled from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on 10/19. He is a 2 yr old Terrier Mix. He is awaiting his grooming and neutering. He likes to play with dogs and cats. But most of all he is looking for his special human to spend all his time pleasing. Stay Tuned for Updates on Cajun!

Daphne

Daphne is the most adorable Toy Yorkie. She is about 8 years old, 5 lbs, and full of spunk. She loves dogs and people. Stay Tuned for updates!

Note from Daphne:

Forever young love bug! That's how my foster mom describes me. I look and act like a young pup. My hair is silkie soft. I love to play, go for walks (on a harness, please) and I especially love to cuddle. I'm a quick learner. I learned to use the doggie door in one day and when my foster mom says "outside", I am the first one through the door. I can sleep in a crate at night or in bed next to you. I love to be held and loved on. SOS rescued me from City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. I'm so happy they did because I had Pyometra because I wasn't spayed. They rushed me to have emergency surgery, to save my life. SOS is the best!

Olive

Olive came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on October 5th. She is about 2-3 years old and all ready for her forever home.

Benson

This beautiful little boy came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on 9/27. He is about 6 mos old and doesn't have a care in the world. He rides great in the car, does very well in his crate, gets the zoomies outside and loves to snuggle inside. Stay tuned for updates!

Note from his foster mom: So far he is kid friendly, little dog friendly, large dog friendly, cat friendly, and was scared of my chickens and ducks, he was an angel at the groomers for his bath and nail trim.

Bugsy

Bugsy is a 2yr old Tri-Color Chihuahua that came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on August 25th. He is a fun little guy who loves to play and snuggle. Stay Tuned for more on Bugsy!

Spots

Spots is about 2yrs old and came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. He is just a little guy but looks like a miniature Border Collie. He gets along with other dogs as well as people.

Lucy

Lucy is a 4yr old happy girl that came to us August 9th from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. Lucy is a very well-rounded dog that gets along with people, kids, dogs, and cats. She is house-trained, crate-trained, leash trained and has great recall. She would fit into almost any home like a glove.

Sophie

Sophie came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on August 11th. She was a little shy at first but is starting to come out of her shell everyday in her foster home. She gets along with dogs but prefers to snuggle in the lap of her person.

Oscar

Oscar came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center on August 5, 2018. He is a 5-6yr old poodle mix. He's the prettiest color that's a mix between tan and silver. Oscar was found on the streets of Bakersfield looking more like a floor mop than a dog. His coat was long and matted and pulled tight on his tender skin. The month long shelter stay caused his spirit to crumble and that's when SOS came to his rescue! Oscar immediately got shaved down and his happy personality popped out afterwards. He is great with other dogs both large and small and doesn't pay much attention to cats. This little guy craves attention and loves to cuddle up and take a nap on a cozy lap. Oscar is house trained and does well in his kennel overnight. He is happy and playful and very healthy. He is up to date on his shots, chipped and neutered. Oscar is so ready for a forever home and share all the love he has to give!!!

Izzy

Izzy is a 6yr old Maltese Mix that we rescued from Kern County Animal Services on July 10, 2018. She was seized by animal control after witnessing the homicide of her human mommy. She was scared but has come out of her shell and introduced us all to her amazing personality. She gets along with dogs and cats of all sizes and loves to be with people. She will be a great addition to a lucky family.
